This story is set as if you've just finished the 3rd book. I apologise if i've included some spoilers! ^_~
"It's so sad..." Chi said to herself. She was watching the tiny stream in the park as the water floated lazily towards the lake. Cherry blossoms were blowing off the trees and into the stream. Her hair whipped across her face so that she could barely see. "I feel sad when the blossoms fall. The trees are dying... is Chi dying too? Hideki does not love Chi. When Chi is not loved, Chi's heart falls apart like the blossoms. When will Hideki love Chi?"
"Chi?" Minoru was standing behind Chi. He kneeled beside her and looked at her puzzled. "Chi who were you talking to? Did someone tell you to say that?"
"No. Chii is alone. But, Hideki does not love Chi..."
When Minoru looked at her, he could see the sadness in her eyes. She looked so real; like she was actually about to cry. "Chi? What does the word love mean?" Minoru wanted to quiz her. Maybe acting like this towards her owner was just part of her programming. Maybe she didn't really feel that way on her own.
"Chi... Chi thinks that love means... someone you like. And when they leave, Chi feels sad. Sometimes when Hideki is gone, Chi does not understand things. Chi hurts right here..." she placed her hand over her heart, "... when Hideki is gone. Chi was told Hideki was here. Wi-with," she looked down and her eyes got glossy- like she was about to cry, "Yumi."
When Chi looked up, Minoru's eyes were also watery. "But," Minoru began, " why do you seem so real? It isn't right. People and persocoms are not ment to be the same. I want to know who made you more than anything now. Do you remember? Do you know who created you?"
"Chi does not know." Chi closed her eyes and saw Dark Chi. "Who has created me?"
"That, I cannot tell you."
"But, I must know. Minoru must know. Chi wants to know, too."
"I am sorry, Chi. I cannot tell you... telling you would only put you in more danger. I will tell you when the time is right. Until then..." Dark Chi embraced her new self in a hug. "I will always help you when you need me." She kissed Chi on the cheek gently, then dissapeared as Chi opened her eyes.
Minoru was still sitting on the grass next to her, looking as if he would die to learn the answer. A strange look of longing on his face.
"Chi does not know the answer. The other Chi does not know either."
"It's alright, Chi. Come on, let's go find Hideki."
