The Meaning of Life

If a fifteen-year-old came up to you and said they knew the meaning of life what would you do?
Would you look at them like they were insane, smile and humor them, or laugh outright? I just settled for looking at Duo like he was insane when he walked up to me and proclaimed that he had found the meaning of life.
Seriously, what does a fifteen-year-old know about life?
Granted we fought a war and were forced to grow up faster than other kids our age. But we have yet to experience all life has to offer. So how could he possibly know? I asked him. His response was simple and complex.
As we all know, humans define their existence through suffering and having fought a war we have experienced that suffering at it's most extreme. We are more enlightened because of that experience. We experienced the circle of life. Creation, destruction, war cover it all.
The miracle of life in his eyes has only one meaning. To be able to experience pain and suffering in all it's extremities and still have the will to go on. To go through life without being bitter, without regrets--To be happy in spite of everything. It's only when we dwell on the bad that life loses its meaning.
And you know what? I absolutely agree.
