I'm not entirely sure why I wrote this as I am completely incapable of writing Mcleod's Daughters. However, after tonights episode and the spoiler for next week I did want to do something.

The day couldn't be any better. Tess was safe, her test result coming back clear - she didn't have cancer. To top it all off Alex was moving in and everyone at Drover's was hinting at something more.

Alex Ryan, self confessed womaniser was proposing to the women of his dreams. Claire Mcleod would hopefully become his wife and her daughter, Charlotte, his. Life was finally happy and content for the Mcleod's.

That was until they got into the car.

All day Tess had been worried sick about whether or not the doctor would tell her she had breast cancer; the very thing that had killed her mother before her. A white brumby was loose on the property and Tess was convinced it was an omen. It was the symbol of death in her mind - her death.

How wrong she was.

Later that day after the doctor had given her the good news that the lump was not cancerous Claire, Baby Bom and Tess herself were in the car driving to Gungallen to pick up party supplies as they were going to have a party, a celebration of life.

That's when it happened.

The white horse appeared out of nowhere and the car was forced to swerve. It hit a tree and rolled down an embankment. Tess crawled out and was able to get Charlotte out to. However, Claire was stuck. She walked for what seemed like years until she flagged down a passing car.

By the time the ambulance got there Claire was dead. Tess stood in a trance gently rocking Bom back and forth to stop her cries. At the same time Alex and Nick pulled up and raced over to the edge of the embankment. Alex sunk to the ground and buried his head in his hands as Tess thought how ironic it was. It wasn't long ago she had written a letter to Charlotte thinking she may never get to see her grow.

Instead of her aunt not seeing her grow; it was going to be her mother. And that's when Tess cried.
