When finally the hour rises when Faramir, the last living son of the Steward, is to make his choice to take the Stewardship, he looks back first to his brother, and a dream that he saw him pass from the Anduine to the Sea. Poem

My brother, where have you gone?
Do you linger in the valley,
Where you converse with the swan?
Are you with the men you rally?
I've seen you before
Looking with distant eyes
Within for the greatest score
And where your heart flies.
You guided me through
Frightening childhood
Taught me what was right and true
And I learned all I could.
But brother, never can I learn
Everything you have to teach
When for you my heart can yearn
But yet my arms cannot reach.
Drift off to the Sea,
The gateway of life
For you have resisted the key
To the world of strife.
Let honor be yours, brother,
And I will take your right.
But within I know there is no other,
That could fight this fight.
So Steward I will be,
Beside the King you chose,
And e'er I will look to the Sea,
For from you, my learning does not close.
