Chap I
I can still remember the night when the demons from hell attacked our city, but then again how could I forget I have nightmares about people dying all around me and blood spilt on burning houses, like it was yesterday. "It was a dark, cold night. The stars were glistening and a large, full moon shone bright enough to cast nightshadow along the ground. My shift had just started but I was tired for I had not sleped that day as I usually do but I wasn't worried because ever since a great warrior destroyed the Three there was not many enemies to keep out. So as the night creped on I got a bit sleepier. My partner had already leaned his spear and buckler against the wall and gone to sleep beside them. I was thinking of doing the same thing when I saw a strange shape moving across the moonlit dunes of the desert. I was going to investigate but just told myself it was a Sabre Cat wandering at night and thought nothing of it but stayed up just to be sure, I mean the Sabre Cats don't bother us but it might have been sumthing else. Little did I know then I was right. It was about 2 o'clock when I saw three shapes move over the same dune as before this time I was sure it wasn't Sabre Cats it was something bigger and seemed to be carrying huge backpacks or weaponry. This time they were moving towards the city: Three of the big shapes and then a moment afterwards hundreds of smaller creatures some carring torches other had swords that shined in the moonlight. The three large creatures were carring large swords and looked massive, just then they spread there wings (I guess they werent backpacks) and flew right over our heads and started spewing fireballs into the streets of our fair city. My partner was already closing the gates to stop the storm of black figures crashing against the walls. We heard screaming and clawing and yelling from all directions, other guards were throwing spears at the monsters in the sky but none landed their mark. By now 1/3 of the city was burning with hellfire, people were rushing to get water from the sea and pour it on the fires. Then I heard a shout "Melchia, they're scaling the walls!" my partner screamed as I looked around and saw him stabbing the little black- skinned demons with tiny wings and weapons of all sorts. I helped him and yelled for reinforcements. We killed many but then we realized that the were rising back to life via a special type of them called Dark Shamans and they were called Dark Ones (I found out later because Drognan the town elder told me) and the large ones in the sky were Mega Demons. The shamans were slower and we killed them easier but they summoned balls of fire to hit us down. Soon there was a blood-curdling laugh and five Succubuses' flew into the city and started throwing blasts of energy at our soldiers. Out of the corner of my eye I saw two men running to the trap door leading to the sewer I abandoned the fighting and jumped to the opening and climbed in they closed it behind me. When my eyes got used to the dark I saw there was seven men including me down there; Drognan, Meshif, my partner who's name was Drake, and three other soldiers. We were walking through the corridors of the sewer looking for some unknown destination, which was soon discovered as the door that led to the docks. The men quickly climbed into Meshif's ship and started getting it ready quickly by raising the sails (we couldn't raise them too much for we had to get away unnoticed) and raising the gangplank. I ran up and took a seat on a box of cargo we set off and caught the wind and got away safely. As I looked back on our once proud and rich city and saw nothing but a burning hell of fire and death, I cried."
