A/n: hey I posted this one pretty quick because I already had it typed. Here it is!
Chapter one-The phone call
"Jamie! Phone!" called Kitty.
"Coming!" yelled Jamie, who was playing soccer with his multiples. ^I wonder who it is^ he thought. He looked around to make sure none of his multiples were following him to listen in on his conversation. Then he turned and walked toward the mansion. *BAMPH!* suddenly, Kurt was standing right in front of him, looking very tired.
"Vhere ees Keety?" He asked, trying to catch his breath.
"I think I saw her phase into the bathroom." Jamie told him. "Why?"
"Mein Gott, she vill be in zere all day!" Kurt mumbled, not hearing Jamie's question.
"I gotta answer the phone. Good luck finding Kitty." Jamie said, heading to the phone.
"Hello?" he said into the receiver.
"Jamie?" a female voice asked softly.
"Who is this?"
"It's Claire."
"Claire?" Jamie asked, surprised.
"Yes, is this Jamie?"
"Uh, yes, this is Jamie." he said. ^Smart. Real Smart.^ he thought, mentally slapping his forehead.
"Good. I was calling to see if you had a date for the Sadie Hawkin's Dance this Friday." She said.
"No, do you?"
"No."
^She's gonna ask me if I'll go with her!^ He thought, exited until he realized that the Professor would never let him go with his powers like they were!
"Jamie? You still there?"
"Yes, I'm still here." he answered. ^I almost forgot she was on the phone!^
"I know it's kinda short notice, but will you go to the Sadie Hawkin's with me?"
"Well, I'd love to, but..."
"But what?"
"The Professor said no parties because-"
"Because of your mutation?"
"What? H-how d-did you kn-now ab-bout th-that?" he stammered.
"I'm friends with Amanda Sefton. She likes a boy named Kurt Wagner. He lives with you, right?"
"Yeah, he lives across the hall."
"Well, was I right about the Professor?"
"Yeah. He said no parties or anything like that because of the crowds. I might bump into someone."
"Okay. See you tomorrow."
"Hey, maybe the Professor will let you come over here instead. I could ask him."
"Okay, call me back with the news. Bye."
"Bye."
After he hung up the phone, he ran as fast as he could to the Professor's office, making Kitty have to phase through him along the way.
"Watch it!" she yelled at him.
"Sorry!" he yelled back at her over his shoulder.
He was about to open the Professor's door when he heard voices inside. He crouched down, unable to hold back his curiosity.
