Title: Playing Favorites 1/?

Author: Chaos

Rating: PG-13 for language

Pairings: None right now

Summary: CSIs are leaving the LV lab like rats from a sinking ship. Can 'Captain' Grissom

stop the mutiny before it's too late?

Warnings: I dreamed this last night (after reading spoilers for future eps) and it's been bugging me all day so I thought I would share. The characterizations weren't dead

on in my dream but I'm gonna try. Also, this first part is sort of a teaser to

see if there is any interest. And, as little as I've seen of him I HATE HODGES

so he, of course, plays the heavy.

Feedback: Please, just remember I'm a diabetic and any thing my doc doesn't think is good for

me will be eliminated.

Grissom entered the lab for the first time in three days. He didn't mind consulting on cases for

other agencies but he hated having to be out of the loop in his own work place for very long.

It had also felt odd leaving Catherine in charge without a full staff. He knew she could handle

it but he had had a problem with the guy who was subbing for Sara while she was on vacation,

Catherine may have killed him by now, and with Greg still training it could've been a rough few

days.

His office beckoned but the smell of freshly brewed coffee won out so he went to the break

room. After the first taste he knew that Greg had not made the current pot. This stuff was

nasty!

Hodges came strolling into the room. "Hi, boss! Glad to see you back. See you found the coffee."

Grissom winced. Of all the people to run into first. "Uh, yeah. Greg must've switched brands or something."

"Oh, Sanders was too busy packing up so I made it." Hodges smirked.

He felt the cup slipping from his hand, "What? Why would Greg be packing?"

The other man was more than happy to fill him in on the going ons of the last three days. "Well

after the dressing down he got from Cavallo for that screw up in the Sam Braun case I guess he

felt he would do better off somewhere else."

"What exactly was he supposed to have done?"

"Oh! So he didn't tell you either? He ran a blood sample from the case without logging it AND

while using someone else's blood as a comparison." The hateful eyes were shining. "He'll

probably end up wherever Stokes is headed, though. They've always been unnaturally close."

Grissom left the break room at a run heading straight for the DNA lab. "Greg, what the hell is going on?"

Okay, this is short but I know that just because I'm obsessed with the topic doesn't mean anyone else will be. If you guys like it I'll continue. Please r&r.
