The rush of feet bound in sandles,

A pause, and then a gasp

The racing of sandles of fear and terror

Followed closely behind it, the almost undetectable rapid rush of another pair of feet,

And the swish of fabric

A pause

Nothing

All was silent and then, someone hit the ground with a thud

A gasp

A sword drawn from its sheathe

A terrified, desperate last plea

No mercy is ever shown

And then...death

Silence

A sword placed back in its sheathe

And then nothing

The remaining mysterious and shadowy figure was no longer there

The nighttime birds settled back in their nests, and all was left as it had been,

Except for the faint stench of blood...
