Summary: Buffy's final moments before she dies.
Rating: PG at the most
Disclaimer: I don't own them. Believe me, if I did, Buffy and Angel would
be living happily ever after right about now.
My eyes fell open as his tears hit my face. He clung to my body desperately hoping that if he held on tight enough it would keep my life from slipping away. Tears slid steadily down his cheeks and I could do nothing to stop them. I could only let him rock me n this cold stone floor.
My body shook with pain. He tried desperately to soothe it all away. I clung to his soothing voice, knowing it would be the last time I ever heard it. I felt so cold. Time was running out and there was still so may things I needed to tell him.
"Angel." I rasped out
"Shh." he whispered "It's okay. everything's going to be okay." I could hear the anguish in his voice. We both knew his words weren't true.
Leaning down he pressed his cool lips to my sweaty brow. "I have something for you."
My body tensed as a new wave of pain washed over me. Maneuvering me a little bit he reached inside his picket and withdrew something small and shiny. My breath caught in my throat as I realized what it was.
"I found it in the mansion before I moved."
~~~My people, before I was changed, exchanged this as a sign of devotion. It's a claddagh ring. The hands represent friendship, the crown loyalty, and the heart. well you know. Wear it with the heart pointing towards you.
It means you belong to somebody. Like this.~~~
I looked up at him, tears stinging my eyes at the thought of how I first got the little silver ring. "I love you" I breathed.
"I love you."
My eyes started to droop. My vision became red from the blood seeping into my eye, the whole room started to spin.
"Buffy no." I heard him cry. "Please, please." he silently begged me.
With the last ounce of strength I had I lifted my hand up to gently cup his cheek. I looked into his eyes, trying to memorize everything about him. My hand became to heavy to hold up and it soon dropped back to it's place by my side. His sobs echoed through the cold dank room
Slowly my eyes drifted shut. I felt the smooth metal of my ring slide onto my left ring finger. His lips pressed against mine in a bittersweet kiss.
"Forever." He whispered brokenly
The world faded around me, as I sunk into oblivion.
The End
