Lunar Eclipse
Disclaimer: you know, the usual. I don't own any of the HP characters, JK Rowling does, and my compliments to her.
Note: Inaccurate? Wildly so, most likely, but as long as it makes a good story I don't care. Suggested slash between Remus and Sirius, if you have aproblem, either make beilive or don't read it. Everyone else, enjoy and review!
It was two nights before the Lunar Eclipse, and Remus Lupin stood before the doors of The Meet. It'd been 20 years since he last attended this, and the only reason he was here at all was because Albus had asked him to be. Had asked the almost impossible, but if it'd help protect Harry and Sirius, he would try. He could but try.
He swallowed his fears and put his mask on. The ebony mask hadn't seen moonlight in two decades, but it was still as good as new and fitted his features perfectly, with not even a millimeter of his own face showing, right up to his hairline and flush to his skin. It was a wolverine mask, not snarling or anything like others that would be there. It was a wolf that appeard deep in thought or mourning, and blacker than the night, save for two golden eyes, his own, that stared through. He could hear the others inside, the meet had already started.
"Here I go..." he sighed, and walked up the steps and opened the door, which squeaked dramaticly. Everyone in the place stoped talking to stare at the new arrival. He wonderd if they recognised him.
"Remus." The man in the center of the circle growled and took a step forward. Yup, they rememberd him. He looked around at the faces of the other Warewolves. They were all seated in stadium seats in the circular building, with some even on the balconies above, and each and everyone of them was looking at him, a sea of masks, some hostile, some happy, all surprised. He straightend his back and held his head high as he walked into the center circle, within feet of the other man.
"Romulus, long time no see." Remus said to his twin, crossing his arms. He looked at his twins mask. Pure white, snarling wolf, ready to attack. Well not this time. He noticed a thin golden band around his brow. "Finally made alpha, I see."
"Indeed, dear brother. Why are you here?" He held out his arms as if to address this question to the whole meet, and laughed and the others joined him. Remus waited for it to die down, not in the least phased.
"Beleive me, I don't want to be here. I come to bring news."
"Then tell us, oh great lone wolf! But first, you submit to me!"
Remus gave him an 'as if' look.
"I left all groups a long time ago. I submit to no-one. And if you value your life and the lives of the clans, you'll listen for once in your selfish life. Voldemort has returned to power and the Order is gathering to fight him once more!"
"So? He has nothing to do with us. Let him come!" Romulus chuckled and span around in the center of the circle, yelles at the top of his lungs "We'll fight him ourselves, and destroy him!!"
"Like last time we tried that?" Remus' words effectively quietend the entire company as the reason for his leaveing them came back to their memories. He'd left to become 'Lone Wolf' when their past leader announced that they would fight alone. Voldemort and the Ministry had both killed too many of them. Romulus turned angrily on his twin, grabbing the frount of his shirt and hauling him into the air.
"This is ment to scare me?" Remus wasn't too shocked by this but was shocked to find himself growling. His brother's eyes shone in triumph for a moment.
"There's my Brother!" and he threw Remus across the circle, clearly annoyed when he landed on his haunches. "Submit!"
"I will not!" Remus said, standing straight.
"Submit!"
"Go to hell."
"Is that a challenge?" Romulus' grin could be seen even through his mask. Even those in the back could tell this was a feud long in the makeing. Every breath in the place was caught as Remus sighed and shook his head sadly.
"I'd hoped it would not come to this." He drew out a black glove from inside his robes and threw it down before his brother. "I warn you now, history will not repeat itself this time."
Romulus swept his sandy-blonde hair out of his hair and bent to pick it up. "That we'll see."
An aged warewolf came up between them and grasped one arm each and held them up in the air.
"Tomorrow, at our Mothers riseing, our leader will fight the Lone Wolf for the leadership of our kind!"
