Wheel In The Sky A Songfic for Shadow

It was winter in Station Square. Shadow, who had survived the fall from ARK by using Chaos Control, was now rooming with Sonic in Sonic's house at the Mystic Ruins. The first snowdrop of the winter fell and Shadow found himself remembering a winter on ARK...... 'winter is here again oh Lord, Haven't been home in a year or more. I hope she holds on a little longer' at those words his memorific self turns to look at a young girl in a long, flowing white skirt, and blue blouse who's coughing due to a disease she was born with. There a loud knock on the door and 'Shadow' watches as G.U.N. bursts through and an official with a magnum 'sent a letter on a long winter's day made of silver, not of clay.' Shadow's thoughts return to the present and he remembers meeting Sonic at Station Square. 'I've been running down this dusty road. Wheel in the Sky keeps on turnin.' I don't know where I'll be tomorrow. Wheel in the Sky keeps on turnin.' Shadow turns his thoughts back to when he used Chaos Control to save himself. He now thinks that he should've let himself be killed so he could go back home to Maria. 'I've been trying to make it home. Got to make it before too long.' Shadow then watches as some people ask how he could impersonate Sonic. Shadow runs from their hateful murmurs in the sleet and rain before pausing, out of breath to watch the sun rise. 'I can't take this very much longer. I'm stranded in the sleet and rain, don't think I'm ever gonna make it home again. The mornin' sun is risin.' It's kissin' the day.' As Shadow runs toward Sonic's house in the Mystic Ruins after riding on the tram in Station Square, he can't help thinking how the sun turned like a wheel in the sky, and as he sped on he remembered his promise to Maria. 'Wheel in the sky keeps on turnin.' I don't know where I'll be tomorrow. Wheel in the keeps on turnin.' The phrases repeat in his mind as a month later him and Sonic race on the Radical Highway to pass the night away. He knows as the phrases end that him and Sonic will continue to yearn for a time when Robotnik will be no more. 'Wheel in the sky keeps on turnin.' I don't know where I'll be tomorrow. Wheel in the sky keeps me yearnin.' As the song in his head finishes, him and Sonic turn to the east and watch the sun rise, knowing Robotnik's day will come.
