The meaning behind what she had said hit her full in the face.
"Oh my God, I'm so sorry, I didn't mean."
"What exactly was there not to mean?" Grissom said, his voice no louder than a whisper and yet Sara felt as if he were shouting at her. "You obviously don't want to be here so why don't you just go?"
Sara's eyes began to fill with water, "Please Griss, listen to me."
"Don't you think that you've said enough already? Just go home!"
She wanted, needed to reassure him. Make him see that she hadn't meant anything that she had said. She moved closer to him on the couch and touched his arm, but he jumped up as if he had been scolded and stalked across the room. Slamming his bedroom door, he flopped down onto the bed. The tears spilled down his face freely, for he had not the energy to wipe them away.
Sara could hear his muffled crying. "What have I done?"
