Confused wide eyes watched the moving crowd with apprehension. The golden orbs scared and wide as he clutched his book close. He hugged it like a teddy because he'd ripped his teddy apart during his last change by mistake.

He told his mommy not to leave it in the cellar with him. He told her to take it upstairs. She just moved it back from the chains and told him that teddy would keep him company. Mommy and daddy where going out this time and it would be his first night changing alone. But he wouldn't be alone. Teddy would be there.

In the morning teddy was a pile of fluff that even her skilled sewing hands and his fathers spells could not fix.

"Your too old for teddy now anyway." His father had told him, "You'll be going to Hogwarts next week. You don't want the other kids to know you still have teddy do you? Here, you can take one of my books instead." The kind man leaned in to whisper, "It even smells like mommy, she sleeps with it under her pillow."

And it did smell like mommy. Her little poem book with things he couldn't understand yet made him feel safe. There where people everywhere. Loud and gosling and scary and new.

He hadn't known so many people even existed.

And he was lost because his wolf eyes couldn't see colours properly and he didn't know the crests yet. Red and Gold ties looked just like Green and Silver and Blue and Yellow and Black and what ever other colours he was supposed to differentiate, but could not.

"Hi. Your in Gryffindor too, right?" asked another shy boy who looked as short as him.

"Yeh" he answered back nervously. He'd never talked to another child before. Their parents didn't want him to corrupt them. To taint them and make them dirty. He was a monster after all.

"I'm Sirius." The other boy offered his hand and Remus reached out to shake it slightly.

He'd never touched anyone other then mommy or daddy before. He'd never looked into a set of blue eyes as he touched surprisingly warm skin. Never felt a tingling in his stomach as his hand pulled back to find he could still feel the shadow of his first non-parental touch.

"I'm Remus." He replied in a small voice, eyes still wide and nervous as the black haired boy took his hand and led him away.
