They thought that they could exploit the savage land, they were wrong. What they did was much, much worse. Three evil creatures of darkness, specialising in different fields of experimentation and science created the dooms day scenario that almost wiped out the human race. Maybe they did the world a favour, maybe not. We will never know.
The Dark Beast, Moira Mactagart and Mr Sinister, three corrupt geniuses working together decimated the planet as we knew it. The specialised in different areas of genetics and science in general, dark beast in mutation, Moira in viruses and Mr sinister in genetics. They had hoped to be able to speed up the evolution in the savage land to that of modern day civilisation. In their haste to do this and make a tidy profit in the process as well as gaining world recognition, something went wrong.
They created a new virus, deadly and efficient; slowly it strips down a carrier's genetic structure, reversing the age process. Instead of evolving the savage land is destroyed it, stripping it down until nothing existed there anymore. The virus had soon killed the beast and Mr Sinister, males died faster than females. Moira fled the savage land, she was the carrier. Taking the disease exactly where it wanted to be: civilisation on the helecraft they arrived in the savage land upon. Moira soon succumbed to the disease she had had a part in creating. People were puzzled when a helecraft arrived in England carrying nothing but an 18 month old child, regressing in age. Soon she ceased to exist.
Spores left Moira, infecting those around her. The disease quickly spread. Mutant's, humans, - everyone died, actually they didn't die, just ceased to exist any longer. Within six weeks there were no more humans or mutants on earth, no plants or animals, no X-men or brotherhood. Nothing.
Then she arrived, back from space, not believing that everyone was gone, almost driven insane at the state of her planet. The virus had by now died out after having nothing to feed upon or devolve. She had been recuperating in space with Shi'ar, after being wounded in battle with the Kree on the moon; they wanted to use the moon as a stepping stone get to Earth, and she and her team of xmen had answered the Inhumans calls for help. A place no longer of any use to any of them. The rest of her team had been killed. She was now alone, the last of her race. Trapped on a desolate planet, with no companions.
Now the planet felt the full wrath of Storm. With her she had brought bacteria, with this she used her power over the elements to incubate and within a few years whole new animal and plants had been formed, new species roamed the earth. Storm became "The New Gaia". The Shi'ar helped bring food for her to survive upon, organic of course. They also brought seed and animals from other galaxies; soon earth was a living paradise. Exotic plants and animals from across space. The true beauty of nature reined the planet. Storm controlled the elements to the advantage of the plants and animals living there, they always had the correct conditions if they needed water or warmth they had it.
Earth was as it always should have been a rich wondrous, paradise where plants and animals lived in harmony and there was no utterance of war or famine or anything evil of un-natural.
Peace reigned over all.
