Sanosuke sat up silently in the middle of then night when he was slightly shaken. Megumi sat right next to him with worry on her face. Sano sighed and looked kindly at her. "What's wrong Megumi?" He shifted himself so he could face her and took her hand into his. Megumi smiled and hugged him. Sano calmly smiled as he gently hugged her back. Megumi looked up at him. "I know this sounds childish...but I had a nightmare. I dreamt you died...please don't hate me because I woke you up..." Tears trickled down her face but Sanosuke wiped them off. "I don't. I won't ever leave you Megumi. Everyone has a nightmare sometimes and everyone has a different way of handling them. He smiled at her again trying his best to cheer her up. Megumi smiled back and sat still staring up at him.

Megumi sighed and looked at Sanosuke's neck. /You have always protected me. Even when I just suddenly interrupted your gambling game./ She pulled herself away and looked at him. "Sanosuke, why have you always been there for me?" She couldn't hold the question me and almost blushed when he answered her. "Guess I was suppose to. If I hadn't I wouldn't know what I was doing, You do know that you saved me. More than Kenshin ever will save Kaoru in his lifetime." He leaned over and their lips touched to embrace in one warm kiss.
