Title: Willing Apologies Author: Robin Geller Rated: G Disclaimer: All characters are owned by their respective owners. I own only the plot. Even though I wish I owned Amy's car. Or any car.

A/N-Takes place after the episode with all of the drivers tests and the Rev's wedding. I think I made it pretty clear what's going on but the Browns and the Abbotts have just come home from the wedding reception.

Amy went home and changed out of her dress and heels. Her parents were still chuckling from dancing and Bright was sulking about the comment she had made about his "girlfriend." Deliah Brown and her friends had not let Bright alone all afternoon.

She put on a t-shirt and some jeans and reclined on her bed, playing with the keys to the car she had received for her 16th birthday. She felt tired and kind of sad. Her thoughts wandered from Ephram to Colin and back to Ephram. She felt guilty even though Bright had reassured her that there was nothing to feel guilty of. And she definitely felt something towards Ephram.

In the end, she decided to go for a drive. Since she had gotten the car, she felt very free and independent and she liked it. It made her happy.

It was dark out but she knew the roads of Everwood well. After a few minutes she pulled over, got out and looked around. She had driven to the Hart's house. Colin's house. It was Laynie's house too, but Amy didn't feel like seeing her.

The lights were on and she could see Mrs. Hart washing dishes, Laynie upstairs listening to music, and in the den she could see Mr. Hart, his eyes red, a glass in his hand. He had locked himself in, she knew.

She didn't want to be like him. Sad, driven to drinking and madness. She didn't want to forget but she did want to get over it.

Climbing back in the car, she hesitated only a second before putting the car into drive and pulling away from the curb.

Ten minutes later, she was at the home of the Browns. She rang the bell then waited nervously. Deliah answered, after a minute. She barely glanced at Amy then turned and shouted, "Ephram!"

He appeared. He had changed from the formal suit too. He half-grinned and said, "Isn't there some way I can get rid of you?"

She asked timidly, "Can I talk to you.out here?"

"Sure."

He followed her onto the lawn, grabbing a jacket on the way.

"Um, Ephram? I'm sorry again for the other night. I.I shouldn't have taken you for granted and.I should think first about.well, about you or.I-I should stop thinking about me. I mean, I'm so sorry, Ephram. You shouldn't even be talking to me but I." Amy blushed a little and refused to meet his eyes.

"I get it, Amy," he said, roughly. "It just.hurts."

Amy looked at his face, trying to force an apology into his eyes and into his hand that she was holding in both of hers. Suddenly, words began spilling out of her mouth. "Bright says you love me." As soon as it was out she blushed deeply and wanted to run back to her car and drive away.

After a second he said, "I guess he's right."

"I love you too," Amy said. She meant it. It wasn't like she loved her brother or mother or father. It wasn't Colin love, it was different. But it was just as important.

She leaned forward and kissed his cheek. Then she walked away, towards the street and the car, smiling to herself.
