The road we walked back then is gone
but I still walk along it anyway.

The snow quietly falls on the gentle slope,
now I put your favorite flower in your room
eventhough I know it will never reach you.

when I remembered our unyielding promise
from last year's last day of snow, it began to melt,
and spill from my hands.

He smiled, a grim smile, as he drove desperately deeper into the cooling body below him.

He hated himself for doing this, stroking his hands across the still-warm chest, running his tongue over the unresponsive nipples.

He tasted blood behind the soft lips that did not moan his name,

tears in the sad eyes that no longer saw him,

death on the stiffening fingers that could not hold his body, stroke his hair.

-

As I remember you watching the snow from the window all alone,
I recall you through the window and give you one last kiss...

please, smile, stop your crying now...
I'm always watching you from here.

-

He cried out as he drove deeper, clutching the silent body desperately, as though grasping for the one thing that may save his soul.

His head fell forward, long strands of platinum hair feathering over the soft stomach, the chest that did not heave in passion.

He groaned and cried out as he came, pouring his hot seed into the still-warm body, feeling it cool around him.

-

All over the city quietly colored white by the light,
the last seasonal color you saw.
you shed tears, reality is cruel isn't it?
the last seasonal color you saw.

-

He collapsed against the beautiful body, so pale and fragile, but full of laughter and love

and life.

But no longer.

Never again.

-

The colors of you have finally disappeared with the four seasons
the snow melts and flowers bloom on the street.
the "shades" you saw are melting.

He kissed unshed tears from his lover's eyes, and cried against the unyielding chest, and sobbed as he had not done since he was a young child.

He smelled the soft scent of his hair, and the sweet, sad scent of death.

And again vowed never to love,

His hikari, his lover.

He silently mouthed the words he could never say, in life or death.

He'd thought if he didn't say them, maybe his love would be safe.

But it didn't work, everything he loved died, he should have said it, he should have.

But they'd both known, and that gave him some comfort.

It was in the smile he'd never see, the flash of soft eyes, the sweet laughter.

A tear fell from his eye, and he watched it track over the cool, pliant skin.

Nothing would ever change it.

Ryou was dead , of a wasting disease even he could not stop, and he was alone.

Again.

And he could not follow.

the last day of snow this year
(one flower in the street, when I looked up to the sky,
the final snow was pouring from the palm of my hands)

I'm so sorry. This was one of those stories that just burns until you write it.

Lyrics are the English translation of Dir En Grey's Ain't afraid to Die.

The last lines, in parentheses, are not performed. It is believed the singer dies, before he can say them.
