***This poem is dedicated with love to River Phoenix, on the tenth
anniversary of his death.
~On the Pavement
A star burns out.
He takes his final breath.
His skin turns blue,
As sirens scream into the night.
His frail frame thrashes and shakes.
He closes his eyes . . .
His brother cries . . .
Painfully he dies.
*~May the eternal River flow~*
9/23/70~10/31/93
Forever in our hearts
