TAKEN AWAY

-Another Day at School-

BEEP BEEP BEEP

Great, another exciting day at school, I thought wearily to myself as I dragged myself out of bed and stumbled to the sink. The school really needs to start later. I splashed cool water on my face so that I would be more awake. I walked over to my drawer and rummaged through my clothes. After picking out my favorite shirt with an old pair of jeans, I changed quickly and walked downstairs.

"Do you want me to make you breakfast?" my dad asked with a smile on the face, although he knew that he couldn't cook if his life depended on it.

"No thanks, considering the last time I ate something you made for breakfast, I went home sick."

Delia walked into the room, wearing her usual baseball cap. "Can you make me some breakfast?"

I pulled my head back in shock, "Delia, since when did you like Dad's food?"

"I've always like it."

"No you haven't. Something's up. You want something from Dad, don't you?"

She turned pleadingly to Dad, "Well, I was just wondering if I could ride my bike to my friend's house so that we could bike to school together." She made an innocent smile.

"Can't you take the bus, honey?" Dad replied. "You'll have to leave a lot earlier today."

"I don't mind. I'm already ready, and I can grab something at her house."

"Well, okay. Remember that Nina will be picking you up from school."

"Oh, thanks Dad! I'll remember!" Delia hugged him and went outside to pick up her bike. "Bye Dad! I love you!"

Dad turned to me. "Delia's first bike ride to school. She's growing up so fast. Soon she'll be driving to school. So, what will you have for breakfast?"

"I'll just have a pop-tart. I've got to go. I have a huge test that I need to study for at school."

"It's nice to see that you're actually excited about studying for a test."

"I'm not. Actually I was going to head over to the comic store before school and pick up a few comic books. See you later."
