Molly: A simple one-shot from Naota's point of view. Takes place ten years
after the Anime ended. So I figure Naota's in high school or at the most
undergrad College. Anyways, I don't own FLCL, and unfortunately I never
will. One note, an * (asterisk) will indicate writing.
Narrator: And now we may begin.
*She's gone. And. I don't know why but I'm not as upset as I used to be. Maybe it's because it's been almost ten years. Maybe it's because I'm not in junior high now. Maybe it's because Mamimi's gone too.
They've cleaned up whatever was left of Medical Mechanica. Even the memory of what happened has begun to fade from our boring little town; and-well, I guess I kinda miss it. I spent a lot of time out there just after she left. Eyebrows (I've forgotten his name) brought me a piece of it a few years ago, it was shaped like a base guitar. He said he found it that way and.
Maybe that's why I've mellowed so much. Everything's being erased. My dad hasn't changed, come to think of it neither have my friends. All except for Ninamori, she's lost a lot of that smart ass attitude. At least when she's around me. Nevertheless, the fog's lifted. And I think I've changed. Gahh! I guess I'll just have to wait till-*
"Naota!" Naota looked up from underneath the bridge. It had become his favorite place to sit and think since grade school. Nearly everyone in town knew they could find him there if he wasn't playing football (a/n: Americans call it soccer), or at work in his grandfathers bakery.
"Hey, Ninamori." He said. Slipping his notebook into his knapsack.
"You know, you don't have to call me that anymore. You can call me Eri; we've been going out for more than a year now!" She looked hurt but Naota only smiled.
"So what if I still like calling you by your last name, consider it a term of endearment." Eri smiled back as Naota joined her on the road. And took his arm without much argument.
"We still going to see a movie tonight?" She asked. Naota's smile faded a little.
"Yeah, Uh Eri I left my, my cell phone back at the bridge. Can I meet you at the bakery in a bit?"
"Sure. But you better be there Nandaba!" Naota's smile returned as he watched his girlfriend took off, her shoulder length hair whipping around as she ran.
Naota walked back to the bridge and took up his place underneath the cement structure. Taking out his notebook, he paused to watch the water move past him for a moment.
*-till I graduate. Then I can get out of here. I can go wherever I want and escape all this normality. Maybe I'll start that band I keep threatening Eri with. Might as well, after all I can play pretty good for a guy who had to teach himself how to play a base. Anyways, it doesn't matter right now. What does matter is that I'm eighteen, and that I'm waiting patiently for Haruko to come back. Won't she be surprised I'm not a kid anymore.*
Naota got up and got his stuff together. Then made his way home. Somewhere out in the distance the sound of a Vespa could be heard clearly above the midday traffic.
Molly: Well there you go. ^_^ Short, but I like it. I'm sorry if I offended anyone by making Naota and Ninamori a couple. I thought it would catch people off guard, and I was going for that. I don't do very good when it comes to writing first person, so this is good practice for me Hope ya'll like it. In addition, please review. Flames are welcome as long as you explain what you didn't like. I could use some constructive criticism. Mean reviews will be used to roast marshmallows and then deleted. ^_^. Bye.
