Disclaimer: Now, don't you think if I owned Kenshin I would be gloating and rubbing it in your face rather than writing something about him? Yeah. I don't own Kenshin.
Author's Note: I've been reading the story The Heart Speaks by Nicky9. I've read a lot of sad, dramatic/angst-y stories, (which I ABSOLUTELY LOVE, I love stories that make me cry) and I just started writing a poem, and I decided that it was looking familiar, a bit like Nicky9's story (with my own stuff, of course). So that's how I shaped it. And, of course, her story isn't finished, but I finished this poem how I wanted to. There are no names in the story, but hopefully you should figure them out. However, if you read The Heart Speaks first, which I recommend doing, you'll probably understand who's talking, and who's being talked about, better. And, this was not originally intended to be an RK thing, but…it is. So, please read and review, and tell me what you speak (especially Nicky9 if you're reading this!) On with the story, er, poem.
-Loving You-
Love, joy, sadness, regret,
How is that I can never forget?
You left me behind
But you won't leave my mind,
I needed you
Didn't you know?
Why did you go?
Ever since then,
I have wasted away.
I have thought about you every day.
And I will never forget
The day that you and she met,
She tore you away from me,
Before I could tell you that I loved you
I am torn by regret.
Years later, you see me, in the streets all alone,
You come up and talk, and I reply in a lifeless tone.
You ask what's wrong,
You don't understand,
But how can you ever?
That day when I saw you walking with her,
Holding her hand.
I finally decide,
I will tell you, I will!
I do, I say, "I love you!"
And you just stand there and stare.
I break down and begin to run away, through the crowds.
I told you, and you just stood there, watching me leave.
I'm running away, from what I don't know.
Or maybe I do and I just don't want to think
That I'm running away from you.
Tears start to run down my cheeks.
I collapse; I cry; I just want to die.
I wish I wasn't so weak.
I finally understand, I finally see,
That you don't and will never ever love me.
I lay there on the sidewalk, weeping, sobbing,
For how long I have no clue.
Then I hear a voice and I look up.
It's you.
I manage to ask, my voice cracking,
"Why are you here?"
And you respond,
"Because I love you too."

A/N (again…): So what do you guys think? If you didn't read The Heart Speaks before reading this and still don't understand who everyone is, it's Kaoru talking, you is Kenshin, and the other girl is Tomoe…also, I recommend going and reading all the stories on my favorites page (almost all of them are really good) and if you have any recommendations (especially stories that make you cry, though only traditional pairings, please-well, turns out to be traditional, like Kenshin and Tomoe and then Kenshin and Kaoru…) please put them in your review! And I know this has nothing to do with the poem, but oh well…heh. And if a lot of people read this and want to know what happens after Kaoru finds out Kenshin loves her (and what happened to Tomoe and stuff-which I don't know yet…heheh), well, I can try, though I don't if I'll be able to (I can only write when I feel like it…). Next chapter will be response to reviewers, and if people want it MAYBE a sequel to the poem (that's weird, a poem that has a sequel? Whatever…)
