Inuyasha finished the jewel but he didn't use it to become a full fledged demon, instead he use it for Kagome's sake when she got seriously ill from all the fighting, and could not live in the feudal era anymore, so he used the powers of the jewel to help her the brought her back to Kagome's house and left. After that day Inuyasha realized that it wasn't safe for Kagome to live in the feudal era anymore so he locked up the portal after he left.
Now, Inuyasha knew he was giving up witch could be the most important person in his life. After a while he left Sango and the others to go find something he was missing in life.
When Inuyasha left Kagome he made a mistake (you'll find out later). Every day he couldn't figure out if leaving her was the best thing to do, or the worst.

2 years after that Inuyasha got new that Miroku had been killed in a explosion from the Runefaust war. Well the war was caused by bombings from Runefaust, which killed thousands of innocent people, so after the war started they attacked a peaceful city, which Miroku was in, and he died.
Sango was the first one to find out, she had a break down from the news and she got caught in a fire that Runefaust started and died but no one knew if she did die because there was no body like there was with Miroku.
The war had destroyed the planet after 5 years and Million's of people had died, but Runefaust wouldn't stop, so Inuyasha had disappeared for a long time, a lot of people who knew him said he died others said he turn to the other side and killed many people, but no one could really decipher his fate so they gave up on him.
The people fought Runefaust and died. But one day a man saw a dog demon kill thousands of people in the battle, so he told everyone and once it got around people knew Inuyasha had turned over, so they started to make explosive weapons and steel blade. Already knowing their fate the people decided that no matter what even if they had to destroy everyone on the planet, they didn't care if they destroy the planet, Runefaust had to be stopped, Inuyasha had to be stopped.
Life for Inuyasha was over, unless someone could help him, he was done, no one liked him, all his friends died, and Kagome was gone for good.

Normal world:
"Hey Kagome are you coming to the dance tonight?" Asked Hojo with that annoying glare in his eye.
"Who me? Oh, yeah I'm going." Replied Kagome already knowing what was coming.
"Um, are you going with anyone?" Asked a very nervous Hojo.
"No, no one ever asked, but I'm fine with that." Said Kagome.
"Well will you go with me then, but only if you want, I'm not forcing you to, but . . ." Asked a nerved wreaked Hojo.
"Listen, I know that your not forcing me to, but I can't." Suddenly said Kagome, thinking of Inuyasha.
"Why not?" Wondered Hojo, "Was it something I said?"
"No, it's just that, I know somebody that left me five years ago, and, well, I can't let go of him, I did all I can to help him, and he left me, because I got sick." Said Kagome Crying. "I have to go." She ran home to the well, and she cried, the well started glowing and it grabbed Kagome, dragging her in, now you'd think she'd be afraid of scared but she wasn't, she was happy for once in five years, because she was going home, to her real home, but the most important thing was that she was going to Inuyasha.
