Title: Echo

Type: drabble

Warnings: spoilers

Summary: Aya ruminates about the past.

A/N: not very accurate but I tried. ^^;

Aya picked up the picture frame staring down at the photograph that was sealed behind the piece of glass. The picture was taken a few years ago before Weiss had divided. It was in front of the Kitty in the House. All of them looking like regular people being content with life. He and Yohji were in the back and Ken had his arm slung over Omi's shoulder. Pale long fingers stroked the glass softly. Those were happy memories.

"Aya sensei?"

Aya glanced up to see Sena standing in the doorway. His hair was tousled and he had heavy dark circles under his eyes. It was amazing how Sena resembled Omi before he left.

"Yes Sena." Aya replied. He set down the picture frame.

Sena had crossed the distance and sat down on the sofa chair by the window. "Were they your old team mates?" He asked.

Aya didn't answer right away. He looked out the window. The moon was full and bright, only a wisp of cloud overcastted it. "Yes they were." he answered finally.

"Do you know where they are?"

Aya looked down at Sena.

"What's the sudden urge to ask these questions?"

Sena shrugs.

"Curious."

Aya picked up the picture frame again and handed it to Sena whom took it.

"The brunette is Ken and the blond is Yohji." he explained. "They're in Europe the last time I heard."

The youth pointed to the dark sepia haired boy. "What about him?"

"Omi." Aya sighs heavily. "I don't know where he is. He left shortly after, before even Ken and Yohji left." Aya took the frame and looked at Omi.

A silence passed over them.

"You miss him?" Sena broke the silence.

Aya gave him a confused look.

"Omi I mean. Even though you're looking at the picture your eyes keep returning to Omi."

Aya didn't say anything. It was true though. He missed Omi terribly. That sweet smile and the soft laughter that filtered through the shop on a rainy day. It made even the most disheartened person soar out of the darkness and bask in the warm light. But things changed. Omi changed.

He started to disappear from time to time. At first they just thought he needed some time alone however, when he started to take off for days they started to worry.

Omi came home one day after being away for three days. He looked so withdrawn, his blue eyes had a haunted look to them. Aya took him into his room and asked what was wrong.

He smiled.

"I'm fine Aya-kun. I just needed some time alone."

The young assassin walked out of the room.

The next morning he was gone. He took only his clothes. There was no note. Nothing but an absence of his presence. Weiss was disbanded 3 months later.

"Aya sensei?" Sena gently shook the redheads arm.

Aya snapped out of his fogged mind and looked down at the boy. He gave a small smile.

"Sorry." he apologized. He gently set the picture back onto the table. "Go to bed. You need your rest." The redhead walked away from the teen and went to his room.

Sena stood in the middle of the living room. He saw that Aya sensei was sad. But why did Omi leave? He'll never know. But he could try to make Aya happy. Give him hope that'll he'll see Omi again.

He turned off the lamp.
