summary : chapter 2 of ice cream and sleep
-longer chapter
Ryan, Marissa and Seth all lay on rafts in the deep end of the pool, talking and laughing about the first week of school.
"All my teachers hate me," Ryan said, laughing. "It's hilarious. Seriously. I raise my hand to answer a question, and I know it's the right answer, but they call on everyone else but me until I'm the only one with my hand up and they still haven't gotten the right answer."
"Lucky you. They all pity me. We had homework due today in History, and I forgot to finish the back of the worksheet, and the teacher gave me a ten out of ten anyway." Marissa sighed. "I'd rather be ignored."
"Sounds like you two should switch." Seth commented.
"If only we could," she said.
"Let's stop talking about school," Ryan said. "It's boring." He jumped off his blue tube, soon follwed by his two friends.
"Hey, Marissa, it's Kaitlin." Seth pointed out as he put his green raft onto the cement surrounding the pool.
Marissa's orange raft came out from under her and she strained to see her old house where her sister apparently was.
"She's sitting at the table," he continued.
"Why don't you go see if she wants to join us?" Ryan asked. "If she doesn't hate me like your mom does."
"On the contrary. She really likes you. I'll be back." Marissa climbed out of the pool, wrapping a towel around her and walking over to where her younger sister was.
