Frozen Angers

Chapter One

My breath was heavy as I stood in front of Viktor. Blood, spilling from his head, crept through the water to my feet. The red water still held the reflection of a monster. Shaking in pain, from the transformation, I looked up at Selene. Her bright blue eyes were soft but held no emotion. I heard the shadows growl from every direction. I knew it was the lycans trying to see the mix of races that was me.

Fear suddenly took me, the pain was too much. My knees didn't want to hold me anymore. I let myself fall in the crimson pool. My hands flew out in front of me to catch myself from falling completely. Selene walked to me; all I could see was her reflection.

"Get up, if you let your guard down now we'll never get out of here alive."

"Why? Why should I live?" My voice shook along with my body.

"Because you are the future of our races."

"I'm a monster now. I can't go back to my life. I can't even be HUMAN ANYMORE!"

Anger rose in me. Selene should have been comforting me, telling me what I was. What I will become. She went through the same thing. She needed someone there for her. Why isn't she here for me? My breathing was heavy again.

I got up from the freezing water. I looked at Selene and opened my mouth to say something. No words came out because the look she was giving me. It was calm, soothing like this was how she was comforting me. Like she didn't want to let her guard down with so many lycans around. I didn't blame her.

"That's right; you can't go back to your old life. You are not that person anymore."

She said with a voice that matched her expression. Her voice washed over me, calming me. My anger was gone.

"So what are we gonna do now?"

My voice seemed rough compared to hers. She didn't say anything. All she did was hold a gun out to me. I took it. It felt odd in my hands. I held the gun gingerly. I looked back up at Selene.

"Follow me."

Selene turned and walked into the shadows.
