In the early times of age, when man started to invent such things as the first horse drawn buggy, when fire was used as more then just home fires and camping, when man was learning to evolve into more respecting beings then their predecessors; there was war.

There had been, and always would be war, as it seemed to be in Man's nature, Human's nature, to cause such pains among each other when they were at odds with another. It was beyond reason then to try talking their problems out, instead a show of strength was thought best to 'show' whom was strongest... Which in the end to anyone not involved in the battles, did not revel much more then people lacking brain and skill to see what they were doing was incorrect.

In this time of growth, where Humans trailed and erred, lived and died, there were Immortals. Hidden away by magicks hand, watching, over seeing, learning. These Immortals both supported and opposed the Humans actions. Some were honorable, some despicable - all were curious to those whom lived great life times.

Among these Immortals, were the great being Humans still prayed to, even cursed and damned - the Gods.

Many of the Humans refused to believe that such a high being could exist. They could not rightly so, in their thinking, because there was no proof. Yet, it amused the Gods greatly, for their were statues resembling them with uncanny accuracy... there were stories, songs, painting! But still, some Humans refused to believe such things as facts. The Gods, could not find it in themselves to spite these some few, as some Humans truly had little to believe in, little to give them hope - But the Gods tried regardless. They liked the Humans; they were interesting creatures to watch.

As many knew, even those that did not believe or worship a God - there was one for near everything. All over seeing some activity, answering the prayers of those in need in some distant land - always at work whether they could be see or not.

Such was the case one day many Millennia ago while over seeing a war in Rome. Ares, the God of War, as such was his title, it was his duty to watch over those conducting wars, battles, massive feuds, especially is said confrontations were seemingly done in his name, or have been asked for his blessings.

Wondering the battlefield one misty morning, Ares was surprised to find another being there, not seen by anyone but he, another being that was like he - a God, but Ares knew not which God this man was, for he had never seen the likes of him in the Heavens.

It was after having cornered and greeted the being, as kindly as the God of War was allowed by nature, they managed to build a friendship despite the battling around them of Humans. Such things were only to be over seen by them, not interfered.

Staying together throughout the war they grew into a Bonded. Something the Humans look for all their lives, and most, never find: their Soul Mate.

But Fate had it out for Ares, the God of War... or his kind heart became to soft on him without his notice. The last weeks of the battle, the Immortal God's body was killed while protecting his Love.

For you see... A God can only find true love in a mortal body, on mortal grounds.

Over the millennia, Ares kept creating similar, like bodies to be on Earth, in hopes of meeting his mysterious lover once more.

It has not occurred yet.

Ares' hope was waning to near nothing, just a last, thin, strand left in his heart. His personality had become colder, closed off, even to those Gods in the Heavens whom were once his friends.

They saw his pain and prayed; something the Gods had no purchase in, since it was they themselves, the Humans prayed to.

They knew, understood, time was running out for their friend - Ares...

You see my friend...

When a God finds his other half, they form an unbreakable bond. A bond susceptible to nothing... But should one ever die... the Bonded have little time (in immortal terms) to find their other half before Lady Time steps in and starts over seeing things... It becomes only time before that Gods' heart can't take the pressure, the crushing pain of being away from it's counterpart; only time before the Soul's Light fades out completely of hope... and dies.

Yes, friends, Immortals can die.

Immortals are what they are: being that live forever. There are only a select few races among the Earth that have immortals in their mists... Elves, Faries, and the Fay, for example.

Yet these can only die when they tire of living, by their own hand, or by the heartbreak of loosing their Soul Bonded.

Gods are the best-known Immortals, having been around since life began. They cannot die. Not even by wanting to, or his or her own hand.

They literally live forever... a sometimes sad and lackluster life until they find a new flare to renew their reason for living their endless lives.

Yet even this mighty ranking group of Immortals are not exempt from Lady Love's kind (and sometimes deadly) touch.

For you see...

Should an Immortal ever find and be displaced from his or her love... they only have an allotted time set by Lady Love - a safe space - before their heart, body and most importantly of all, their soul, starts to crumble away from the weight of their pain, longing, suffering - their based NEED to have the other by their side..... before they die. Disappear from all realms and have their Godly stature replaced by another worthy being.

Ares - the God of War's time was ending. If he could not find his Soul Mate this life time 'round on Earth... he would be no more...

This is the Gods Last Dance with Life. His last chance to gain Love once more - his last chance to stroke his dying fire called Hope... his last chance to Live!!

This... is his tail of triumph... and possibly, Death...

Gods that was short wasn't it??? ^__^ That's gotta be the shortest darn thing I've ever written besides songs, and I've got one that spands near two pages I think. ^_^;;

Anywho! This is the Prologue for "Trials of The Bonded", my newest GW baby. ^_^ Like I needed to start up anymore right? Have plenty to write on as it is, BUT, I have three over grown muse kids and they won't leave me alone! ::glares plafully at the group:: They're older then they act, it's sad. But this one Kesai hit me over the head with eairler... and Jon followed that up with three songs that COULD be turned into OS-SF's... haven't decided yet.

The next chapter will be out realitivly soon... I'm hopping. Honestly I have more planning to be before jumping into it. Lots. But please, do review and let me know what you think of this one. I haven't tried something like this before and hope it'll be alright. The catogory for it is under what, Drama/Fantasy? That's fine, honestly we should be able to choose more then that... this one is more like... AU/Fantasy/Drama/Angst/Humor... probably some others, but that's the gyst of it. Please, pretty please, review and let me hear y'alls thoughts on it thus far, I greatly appreaciate all feed back!! ^_^

Arigatou!!

Keep it kickin'!
