by Skylark
He's faced the hardest time you could imagine
And many times his eyes fought back the tears
And when his youthful world was about to fall in
Each time his slender shoulders
Bore the weight of all his fears
And a sorrow no one hears
Still rings in midnight silence
In his ears
And if by chance I should hold him
Let me hold him for a time
But if allowed just one possession
I would pick him from the garden
To be mine
Be careful how you touch him for he'll awaken
And sleep's the only freedom that he knows
And when you walk into his eyes
You won't believe the way he's always paying
For a debt he never owes
And a silent wind still blows that only he can hear
And so he goes
Let him cry for he's a man
Let her dream for he's a child
Let the rain fall down upon him
And wash away his tears
