Summary: Sam has a dream. Fairly pointless.
Warnings: A bit of slashyness, a bit of het.

Obligatory A/N: Yes, as said above, fairly pointless. It is based on a dream I had. Has not been beta read, so please excuse the mistakes.

Only in dreamsWe see what it means
Reach out your hand
Hold on to hers
But when we wake
It's all been erased
And so it seems…
Only in dreams

It was dark, yet light. That is to say…
He was at Mr. Bilbo's one hundred and eleventyth birthday party again. The field was illuminated by a single star in the heavens, but otherwise completely surrounded by blackness. Rosie was dancing in the middle of the meadow, just as he remembered, but all other dancers were missing. There was no music, nor musicians; all was empty except for Rosie and Sam.
He sat at the table, still unsure if he could muster the courage to go and dance with her. It was only then he felt the presence of Frodo sitting next to him, who was urging Sam to go dance with Rosie in between sips of his ale. Finally as Rosie's lonely dance brought her close to the table, Frodo pushed Sam out of his chair and into her arms – just as before.
But it was different this time. His legs just seemed to become weights that dragged him to the ground. He could no more stand up on his own than dance, he realized with despair. Rosie, however, merely laughed and held him up so his feet didn't even touch the earth, and the pair continued dancing like there had never been an interruption. He could hear Frodo's laugher in the background, though Sam could see him no longer.
Round and round the field Sam and Rosie went, never a step out of place, until Rosie's foot slipped on a patch of dewy grass. Sam gasped in shock at the sudden change.
The second after they went crashing down to the earth, they were rolling down a hill that had suddenly appeared. As they tumbled, one over the other, every stitch of clothing they wore disappeared. Sam could see Rosie laughing gaily throughout, though he thought once or twice that he saw Frodo's face above him instead of Rosie's. Each time he saw it, it was only for a split second, so Sam figured it was merely his eye's deceiving him.
They rolled to a stop a few feet from the foot of the hill, and when they halted Rosie and Sam were side by side, Rosie still laughing. She turned to face Sam, her laughter fading though great mirth remained in her eyes. She turned to him and smiled; Sam never felt so aware of his lack of clothing in his life. Blushing, he tried to keep his mind off of the fact that Rosie was as naked as himself.
Thus it was Rosie who leaned over and gave him the softest, most gentle kiss he had ever yet received… but when she pulled away; it was Frodo's smiling eyes looking back at him.
Somewhere during all this, the light of the star had vanished. Now Sam saw where it had gone – it was emanating from Frodo himself, pale and glorious. Frodo reached over and gently smoothed Sam's hair. Sam breathed in shakily. This was beyond taboo, beyond everything.
Frodo's hand dropped from Sam's hair to lie gently on Sam's cheek. "Go to sleep, Sam," Frodo whispered kindly. "It will be all right. Everything will be all right."
Sam gave a deep sigh and rolled onto his back.
The last thing he saw before his eyes fluttered shut was the return of
the star in the north.

Upon waking Sam remembered none of it, though despite being in the wasteland of Mordor, he felt strangely comforted.
