I think this must be the fastest I have ever written and posted a poem! It's bonfire night and fireworks and being let off everywhere, which inspired me while on my way home. So I wrote and posted this in less then an hour. But it had to be posted on the fifth of November (remember remember!)
Not one of my best I don't think, and a bit of a change to how my poems usually work, but never mind.
Disclaimer- I don't own the first or last verse, which belongs to Mr Tolkien, but the rest of it is mine.
I Bet They Don't Mention His Fireworks
By Michelle Frodo
The finest rockets ever seen
They burst in stars of blue and green,
Or after thunder golden showers
Came falling like a rain of flowers
Like stars that shine up in the skies
Dancing wild like fireflies
Straight out of darkness shines the light
Of candles in the black of night
Brighter then the shining moon
Like flowers in the month of June
High in the sky them seem to hang
Before exploding with a bang
Then as the lights fall with a glimmer
Disappearing without a shimmer
The sky returning to its black
Until the swirling lights come back.
The finest rockets ever seen
They burst in stars of blue and green,
Or after thunder golden showers
Come falling like a rain of flowers.
