Enemy
Sean leaned his head back on the black leather recliner at his California apartment. Mike had called and told him to watch Raw because for once he was going to make an appearance. Mike wasn't on television very often and he wrestled even less often. Ever since he suffered a broken back in 1997, he has never been the same again. Oh, sure, he'd wrestle a match here or there, but it just wasn't the same.
Now, as Sean started watching the program, he realized that things had really changed. It had been, what, a year since he left? Yes, that was right. The product didn't seem to be getting any better, though. In fact, it seemed to be getting worse. Sean sighed; he was actually glad to be out of the company.
Bill Goldberg came out, the new Raw world heavyweight champion. Sean recalled when Mike told him that Paul had finally dropped the title after a reign that lasted a little over a year. He only did it because he was marrying Stephanie soon. He would have the gold back by November or December.
An hour passed, and Sean was nearly falling asleep, not because the show was boring, but rather because he was tired. He was ready to go off to the kitchen to get a glass of water to help keep him awake when he heard a song playing on a commercial. Figuring that the WWE was using the song for a commercial for an upcoming pay-per-view, Sean strolled back into the living room to see if Mike or even Paul was on the card. But Sean was shocked at what he saw. It was a commercial for Sevendust's new CD with their song "Enemy" playing in the background.and Joanie was in it. Sean watched in silent astonishment as the commercial played out. As soon as it was over, the phone rang.
"Hello?"
"Hey, man. It's Kevin. Joanie's on a commercial! Did you see it?"
"Yup."
"You should call her and congratulate her."
"You really think so?"
"Yeah, I think she'd like that. Later."
Sean hung up the phone, dialed Joanie's number, and waited for her to pick up.
"Hello?"
"Hi Joanie. It's Sean."
"Oh, hi Sean. How are you?"
"Fine. How are you?"
"I'm good."
"I just saw the commercial you were in. Nice job."
"Thanks."
"Well, I gotta go."
"I love you."
Sean thought she was joking, but then again, maybe she wasn't? "I love you too. Hey, um.maybe we can get together.you know. To celebrate the commercial?"
"When?"
"Tonight?"
"Sure."
"Okay. I'll see you in fifteen minutes," Sean hung up the phone and smiled to himself. That commercial really was worth stopping for, afterall.
