More Than Just A Rainstorm

It was more than just a rainstorm
More than raindrops falling down
Far from just the perfect ending
To the heatwave in this town.

It was more than just a rainstorm
It was facing lingering fears
It was pushing side the demons
That had haunted you for years.

It was finding love you longed for
Putting differences aside
It was more than just a rainstorm
It was bridging the divide.

It was more than just a rainstorm
And I'll never understand
Why that monster took my innocence
And crushed it in his hand.

He stole everything about me
My personality, my pride
And instead of coming forward
All I wanted was to hide.

To keep it all a secret
Mask everything I feel
Oh if I could only do that
Maybe then this won't be real.

But I speak anyway
I can no longer hide
From all of the pain
That I'm feeling inside.

And what does it matter
He walks away free
Without thinking twice
Bout what he did to me.

They promised it'd get better
Peace was just around the bend
But I don't think that anything
Will make the hurting end.

The memories and nightmares
I relive them everyday
Oh it was more than just a rainstorm
At least the rainstorm goes away.
