Ms. Palmer Principal Elphinstone Secondary 840 Gibsons, BC Gibsons, BC VON 1V5
Dear Ms. Palmer:
I am writing this letter to state my opinion and ask for a change about the way the terms work in Elphinstone Secondary. I find that with the semester timetable we will have our classes split up, what I mean by this is that we won't have our classes every week throughout the entire year.
I have received my schedule for next term and noticed that I have entirely different classes. This confuses me. How are we supposed to stay on track and remember what we have just learned if we don't have those same subjects at least 2 or 3 times a week throughout the year? When learning new things it is essential that we go over them time and time again, but the semester timetable doesn't give us that chance. Teachers also have to cram more work in which creates more stress on us and we don't have time to absorb it all. Having classes changed next term appeals to many students, but it doesn't appeal to me as a full, satisfactory learning program.
I'm not sure why the school operates this way, but I please ask, with other people's support, to reconsider the format of the term plan. There may be certain students who have trouble in certain subjects, if they don't have that class next semester how will they improve in it? That takes them behind in their learning and in the long run will stop them from having a full education.
In conclusion I ask that the semester timetable (term plan) is taken into consideration, and is changed to having all classes every week. Would you want your children to stop short of having a full education and not be challenged?
Sincerely,
