We get it on most every night When that old moon gets so big and bright It's a supernatural delight Everybody was dancin' in the moonlight

She knew he couldn't dance. She knew that if he could he would be wonderful. It was all a matter of knowing how. He simply did not posses the ability to do it. That's why she had offered to teach him.

He seemed surprised that she had offered. She was surprised that he was surprised. Didn't he know how she adored him? How she dreamed of him?

And she did dream of him. All the time. Night and day. She dreamed of a lot of things but he was her favorite.

Everybody here is out of sight They don't bark, and they don't bite They keep things loose, they keep things light Everybody was dancin' in the moonlight

She offered to teach him in the quiddich pitch in the evenings. It was the only time when the field was free of noisy players racing around loudly.

It was a wonder she could dance at all. It would have surprised most people to find she could indeed dance so gracefully. It would come as a shock mainly because she was not a very graceful person.

They were the most unlikely couple. He was shy, awkward and clumsy; she was loony, faraway and dreamy.

And still they danced. Every night without question they met in the field and danced together. Somehow they needed it. They needed the friendship, the compassion, the -- love.

It would be an odd thing to look in on them. To see two awkward outcasts together, dancing in the cold, dancing in the night. Dancing in the moonlight.

When they were together the world was left behind. Their forgotten lives were behind them. All they could see was each other.

It was all the warmth they needed on a cold night. She waited until the end of the day. She waited to sneak out of the castle, hand in hand with him. She waited for him to put his arms around her.

Because Luna Lovegood and Neville Longbottom were in love.

They seemed to find solitude in it as in each other. There was nothing unsure, unstable, or out of place about it. All they were doing was dancing.

It gave her a warm feeling. It also seemed like the only time when he smiled. All his sadness, his hurt, everything was lost to the night.

She was lost to him.

She knew he felt the same way about her. Why else was he always there? Why else did he draw her closer?

He wasn't afraid of anything when he was with her. In time he lost his clumsiness, his shyness and his awkwardness. He moved smoothly and gracefully.

Once he danced her across the field. They didn't even realize they had been dancing so long. He was always so light hearted around her. Not like the way he acted around everyone else.

One night he had stopped dancing with her after only a minute. She was about to ask what happened but he hushed her.

"Luna," Neville had said. "I want to...um..."

She looked at him curiously. "What?" She'd asked at the time.

He shook his head. Then he had leaned down and kissed her. Kissed her. She was pleasantly surprised. He had never done that. He seemed to pour his emotions into her and she liked it.

After many minutes they stopped kissing and continued to do what they had been doing together for so long.

They continued to dance in the moonlight.
