AN: I wrote this after watching the episode A Gem of a Day. This is my
addition to the end where Cam and Hunter were together. It was so sweet and
there is definitely something there. Or at least I think so.
Hunter sat on the tree stump feeling miserable. The last time he had felt this way was when his parents had died and his friends at the Ninja Academy had been abducted by Lothor. Then he had given up the last remaining shards of the Gem of Souls. Only Lothor had beaten them yet again.
Hunter let out an angry cry, why did Lothor have to interfere? Why couldn't they just get their friends back?
Cam walked along the meadow feeling just as dejected. He had found the captive ninjas, been so close to rescuing them, but of course Lothor had succeeded in defeating them. Well they would try again and this time they would win.
But that still didn't make him feel better, some of those ninjas had been his friends and he missed them every single day. He stopped short when he saw Hunter sitting by himself.
Cam wondered if he should approach then thought better of it; Hunter looked beyond miserable the same way Cam felt. Then Hunter turned and saw him. "Oh hey Cam?"
"Is it safe to approach you?"
Hunter nodded, "yes it is" then turned away. "We were so close".
Cam nodded, "I know the dragon vehicle took a beating but I'll get it running again".
"I shouldn't have kept those gems hidden!" Hunter stood up putting his hands on his head, "maybe things would've turned out differently".
Cam grabbed Hunter by the shoulders, "it isn't your fault Hunter we'll get all the ninjas back, it'll take time but it'll happen, then everything will be just like it was".
Hunter smiled a little smile, "well the Wind and Thunder academies will be closer than they were, god I feel so alone sometimes".
Cam took Hunter's chin in his hands, "you're not I feel just as bad as you, they were in my grasp but I lost the chance, you're not alone Hunter".
Hunter fell into Cam's arms anger and anguish burning within him but in Cam's arms he found comfort. Finally he straightened and looked into Cam's eyes.
"In a way I'm glad Lothor came to Earth?"
Cam looked at him, "how can you be?"
"Because I never would've met you" Hunter took a deep breath, "Cam I never thought I'd say this but I have feelings for you".
Cam's mouth dropped open practically down to the ground, "you do?"
"Yes and no I wasn't abused as a child I like both guys and girls but I do have feelings for you, they are real".
Cam looked him deep in his eyes, "Hunter I don't think you're weird because I feel the same way about you".
"You do when did you realize it?"
"I don't know but I do know it now?"
Cam I'm the same person who abducted your father, but I regret every hour of every day".
"You worked for Lothor, Hunter you've worked hard to atone for it, I don't hate you for it and my father doesn't hate you".
They stared at each other then Hunter moved first kissing Cam on the lips. Cam quickly responded and after a few moments they pulled apart.
"How do you think you're brother will take it?" Cam asked.
"It's my life and hopefully Blake will understand, but I don't really care what he thinks about this, I just know this is right".
"Maybe we shouldn't tell the others yet, not until after Lothor is defeated".
Hunter nodded his agreement, "it's your choice".
They sat down in the grass together and let out their frustrations, and shared memories of their missing friends, imagining the day they would all come home.
But they did know one thing they were no longer alone.
