A one-shot based on the discussion, The evolution of Sesshoumaru's "fluffy".
By Jelly the IVMetal against metal. Brother against brother. Sesshoumaru against Inuyasha.
Each pushed against the other's blade. As one, they leapt back. Inuyasha swung his Tetsusaiga around him. The youkai lord held Toukijin steady. With a battle cry, the hanyou charged. Sesshoumaru didn't move a muscle.
Inuyasha landed, looking about wildly. "Where the hell did Sesshoumaru go?" he shouted.
Sesshoumaru froze for a moment. No longer did he smell the forest or the wind, or even his filthy half-brother. He sheathed his sword as he examined the scents. Now he smelt flowers, perfume and a human. Her. He groaned softly, and then froze again.
'She is affecting this Sesshoumaru already!' he thought angrily. The youkai turned to find the floor-to-ceiling mirror that had always been there. On his face he saw. saw. emotion!
"Sesshoumaru!" called out a perky female voice.
He cringed, only to cringe even more as he saw himself cringe in the mirror. Frustrated, he raised his hand as it started to glow green.
"Sesshoumaru, you better not destroy my mirror again. I'll let Inuyasha beat you in the fight." warned the voice. Sesshoumaru growled as he turned to face the woman.
"Why have you called me, Sesshoumaru, to this wretched place?" he demanded, trying to keep his cool. It was slipping. It always did when he was here. Something about it…
"Don't call my home wretched," she scolded as she dragged something from the other room. She hefted it up onto her shoulder and held part of it out to him. "Now here's the new one for you."
Sesshoumaru looked at it with disgust. "This does not befit one such as I, human."
The woman's eyes narrowed dangerously. She dropped the item and raised a hand to his face. Deliberately, she snapped her fingers loudly. As soon as this action was completed, the item disappeared from the floor. Sesshoumaru's growling returned and his vision became red.
"Ja ne!" she said cheerfully and waved. That was the last thing the youkai saw before his world changed once more.
"Sesshoumaru!" shouted Inuyasha angrily. He prepared to attack again at the sudden reappearance of his brother but paused. "What the ---- happened to you?" he asked, barely containing the smug laughter that wanted to spill out. 'Is he being eaten alive by that fluff-whatever-you-call-it thing or is it just me?' he paused to think about it, his expression never changing. 'Yeah, it's eating him alive.'
He prayed- he really did- briefly, before glancing at the subject of the hanyou's amusement. He saw a small scrap of parchment with writing and fingered it. Turning it over, the youkai read it. His eyes widened in surprise, then narrowed in anger and finally he was seeing red again. Sesshoumaru clenched his fist over the paper.
"---- you, Takahashi-san." he snarled.
Paper-
"Some of the fans wanted it longer.
It got a lil' poofy when I stuck it in the dryer.
Everyone loves the fluffy, Fluffy!
-Love, Rumiko.
PS, no pun intended."
