The Past of Jayge Savage: The Story
within the Magic
Chapter One
September:
I've been alone most of my life, I've never had friends or a girl. or even a real family. I knew nothing about my past or my "magical" heritage. The first memory I can remember when I was a kid, is living back at the orphanage, the one I grew up in. I can just barely remember the first day I came there.
It was a dreary day in late April; I was just a short fry then. I was gripping the hand of an old woman, walking slowly down a long hallway were portraits stared down at me from above. I don't remember much after that, just being alone all the day, every day, every hour of every year. I usually wondered if my life was going to take me anywhere, or if I was destined to be alone like so many others. Until the day I received the letter.
I was sitting in the "lounge" as they called it. Actually it was a fairly small room, cluttered with furniture of all kinds. Paintings of former managers stared down their long noses at the room around them. A small fireplace was in the back of the room, having never been lit sense the war. The whole room was painted in a bleak maroon/brown color. Most of the paint had been scraped off the walls, most of the kids edging phrases and names into it.
A lopsided bookcase took its domain in the corner, only a couple books left remained on the multi colored shelves. Everything was coated with a thick lair of dust, giving it an even happier effect.
I sunk in my large leather arm chair, staring at the portraits before me. They all glared down, disapproving the fact that I spent most of my time there. At the moment I was staring at a boney looking woman, with large ears the size of dinner plates. Her bland blue eyes stared out into the room in a fixated glare. Her hair was pinned up in an old fashioned manned, looking more like a librarian than the head of an orphanage.
The door swung open as Miss Sagendorf strode in. She wore an off white dress; fresh stains covered the fabric showing she had just come through the cafeteria. Her silver gray hair was messily put up into a bun; locks of her hair fell before her face.
Miss Sagendorf was head of London's main orphanage, a frightful old git without a cause. She eerily reminded me of a crow, with her slender long nose and beady eyes; it was enough to give any kid the creeps. She grabbed me by the shoulder with a bony hand, forcing me to my feet.
"You've got a letter Mr. Savage...who have you been talking to ehhh?" She asked her voice cracking in mid sentence.
And that's all how it really started. The letter I had received on that day accepted me to the finest school of Witchcraft and Wizardry, Hogwarts, the school for growing Witches and Warlocks. The very place where I met her.
