Song of the Blackbird

Dedicated to: No one in particular cuz this thing sucks.

Note: Ok, I wrote this poem over the summer for some obscure reason, but
now when I look at it, I can only see it fitting Lady Une's POV over
Treize... This wasn't actually meant to be Gundam related--I'm pretty sure
of that, but I went and tweaked it up a little, added a few lines... And I
hope to put this into something like a song-fic format...

Song of the Blackbird

The glowing star I wished upon so many nights ago,
Faded as I sang the blackbird's song,
And disappeared when mourning fell upon me;
The hope I had was gone.

I cherished you,
But you were never there.

So many times alone I chose to sing your praise,
So many times you turned away;
Your foolish thoughts of honour kept you silent,
Although I knew the things you'd say.

I respected you,
But you were never there.

I never thought my life had any meaning,
Or even hoped that someone cared;
I realize now how wrong I was,
And look into your eyes I never dared.

I had faith in you,
But you were never there.

So many times I prayed the two of us would live,
And see the morning glow;
So many times I hoped the gods would send us,
A life that would pass us slow.

I prayed for you,
But you were never there.

Now all I can hold are the silent memories,
And still I cry for what has passed;
I thought this love could last forever,
But forever came and went so fast.

I loved you,
But you were never there.

And here I must stand alone to wait,
For the day that I too will die;
So sure I was that I had loved you,
Until I heard the blackbirds cry.

I wept for you,
But you were never there.

Any thoughts? Yes? No? Think I've finally lost it? [Yep, Cat's definitely
lost it...]
Please RxR cuz I don't write too many poems, and I'd like to know how good
they actually are... If it sucks, well... I can't help it. It really does
fit Une's POV, though. I think I should do one for all the GW characters...
or maybe for Escaflowne.
