I wrote this poem after watching the episode where Inu Yasha tells Kikyo to her face that he will protect her. You know the one. And I don't own any of the Inu Yasha characters.

It hurts so bad, yet she didn't know why.

The way he had looked at her.

He was trying to say something, tell her something,

But it frightened her.

She was afraid of what he would say.

She knew he loved another, she had heard stories.

But to hear it from his own lips

That he loved another, hurt her.

She didn't know why it hurt,

But she ran from him,

Not wanting to know what he would say next.

So she went home.

There she had time to think.

Without any distractions, she finally realized why it had hurt.

She loved him.

And somehow she knew he was going to reject her.

Once she realized the truth of the situation,

She knew she had to go back and see him.

She was still afraid,

But her desire to be with him was greater than her fear.

Even knowing she wouldn't be able to be in his heart

The way he was in hers,

It hurt her deep down

To know he loved the other,

But she loved him

And would always stay with him,

No matter what
