As requested, I wrote this "poem" from Inuyasha's point of view from the episode where he tells Kikyo that he will always protect her. And of course I don't own Inu or the gang.!_!

He heard the crunch of leaves behind him and knew she had heard what he said.

He felt bad, but it was all for the best.

No matter how much he may love her,

his promise to protect his first love came before the promise to protect her.

When he turned around and saw the look in her eyes

and smelt the salt of tears she wouldn't let fall, it felt like a knife had been thrust into him.

How could he have hurt her like that?

He had to.

In order for his love to be put to rest, it must be this way

He tried to tell her with his eyes.

She must have seen it because she ran.

For the first time, he didn't try and stop her,

and of all the times before this was the one time he really wanted to.

Having to see the look in her eyes and watch her run to her home broke his heart.

When the others found out they yelled at the young man and pushed him to go get her.

Deep down he wanted to but couldn't.

When they talked to him again, they confused him into saying what he really felt.

That he wanted her to stay, that she should stay with him.

After a while, he went into the forest.

Not knowing where he was going, he ended up at the Bone Eater's Well.

And there she was.

Sitting on the lip of the well looking off into the forest. His forest

The smell of tears was fresh on her.

Right then he wanted to take it all back, to tell her she was the one that would come first.

Then she looked at him.

Told him how no matter what the outcome,

whether he left her or not, she wanted to be with him.

He couldn't believe it,

After everything he said and did, she still desired to be with him.

Then she asked if she could stay with him.

He could not deny her.

As they walked away, she slipped her hand into his.

Feeling a spark of happiness in his dark world, he curled his hand around hers.
