Chapter I: Cedar Doors
Harry had his ear to the door, straining to make out the mumbles from the other side. Maybe the rumors were true, maybe there was a new girl in hogwarts. But he had never heard of someone moving so far in the middle of the year. Why it was almost Christmas break!
More than likely, the other rumors were true, that it was just a new ghost roaming the corridors of the school. Interesting, but not a good enough reason to use the cloak.
"Harry, can you hear anything yet?" Ron asked.
" Not with you spitting in my ear!" Harry hissed.
"Well, can we go back? I have to go to the bathroom!"
"Just a little longer."
"But Harry I..."
"Shhh!" Harry him off, "someone's coming!"
Quickly they stepped back in time to dodge the opening door. Out stepped Professor Mc Gonagall and a girl that looked about 16, with jet black and big doe eyes with a look of fear instilled in them.
"Now," Mc Gonagall started, "given the circumstances, you will have as few days to go about in your muggle clothes, until the post brings some decent robes."
"Thank you," replied the girl, who had a soft gratifying tone to her voice.
"Don't worry you're safe here." Mc Gonagall's usually hard face was melted by a kind smile. "I'll show you to the Gryffindor dorm."
The pair walked the familiar path to the Gryffindor dormitory, with Ron and Harry hastily following behind. Every so often the girl would look over her shoulder and almost stare Harry in the eyes. Of course, she couldn't see him, but it was like she sensed him.

When Mc Gonagall reached the portrait of the fat lady she shouted "Vizier!" and the picture swung open to reveal a circle entrance. Both the girl and Mc Gonagall briskly stepped inside, while Harry and Ron had to race through to avoid getting crushed.
While Mc Gonagall was getting the students' attention, Harry and Ron hurried upstairs to stash the cloak. They came down in time to hear Mc Gonagall finish her sentence.
"Yes students, there is a new student at Hogwarts. Her name is Charlene Dlio." At the mention of her name Charlene started blushing. "She has traveled all over the world and for the past eight years she has been living in America. She is in her sixth year so Hermione, she will be staying in your room. Help her get settled in and accustomed to the schedule." Hermione nodded. Mc Gonagall started talking softly to Charlene. " Ask Hermione if you have any questions or need any help in your studies, I'm sure she would be glad to be of assistance," and with that she left the room.
The buzz of conversation returned to the room. Hermione walked over to Charlene, Ron and Harry followed.
Hermione started, " Hey Charlene."
"You can call me Char."
"Ok. Well hey Char. I Hermione as you might have guessed. This is Ron Weasley."
Ron's ears turned three shades of pink and he just managed to get out a meek hello. Char smiled.
"And right here is Harry Potter." Quickly the smile faded and was replaced with a look of disbelief and horror. Harry was used to getting strange looks at the mention of his name, but he thought this was different.
"Right. Well Char I guess you should get unpacked. Come on."
After the girls were upstairs, Harry started talking. " What was that look about?"
"She was probably just surprised to meet the great Harry Potter."
"I thought it was something more than that."
"You're just making a big deal out of it because you think she pretty," and with that he slapped him on the back. Ever since ROn got back to HOgwarts he has used every opportunity to show off his new "muscles" he acquired over the summer. Harry had to admit that last hit almost knocked him down.
