Mourning
The tears come at odd times, giving no warning. To lose a child has to be the worst grief. There's something so wrong about it, the way it twists the flow of time inside out.
When I heard the news, I went numb. What mother wouldn't? Then anger, denial, all the textbook grieving. All of it. Except acceptance. Except resolution.
My son promised me retribution. I told him it wouldn't help. But he had to die trying.
Jonathan Archer just promised the same.
No. Enough loss already.
It's hard to bury two children and still have no grave to tend.
