Oil Slick Rainbows

Sakura waits for Tomoyo after school. She always does, rain, snow or shine. When she begins her walk home, Sakura is there, smiling cheerfully. Sometimes with Syaoran or another friend, but always, always Sakura.

It's because of this that Tomoyo walks home.

Today it has been raining. Tomoyo carefully steps around the puddles, while, - in Tomoyo's opinion – in a childish and endearing manner, Sakura splashes in them, soaking her ankle socks.

Sakura is still very much the same at 16 as she was at 11 – cheerful, bright and friendly. She chases after snowflakes, jumps in puddles and watches the cherry blossoms tossed by the wind. And still as much in love with Syaoran then ever.

Tomoyo wouldn't have it any other way. Syaoran makes Sakura happy, and as long as Sakura's happy, Tomoyo is too. She thinks that perhaps Syaoran notices, but Tomoyo never says a word, and neither does he. She knows that if it would make Sakura happy, he'd give her up.

Tomoyo doesn't say anything, because she is happy as she is. She does not wish anything was different.

Well, there's only one thing she wishes was different, and that's that she wishes she hadn't forgotten her camera. It would make a beautiful picture, Sakura smiling, while the sun shines on the wet pavements and oil slick rainbows.
