The Hogwarts Express pulled into platform nine and three quarters on September 1. Harry, Ron, Hermione and Ginny were on the platform waiting to get on the train. Harry looked at Hermione; she looked so beautiful with her neatly pressed uniform and newly straightened hair. Harry liked Hermione, but he didn't know how to tell her. He had fancied her ever since he first met her on the Hogwarts Express just five years ago. Harry had more problems to think about than Hermione liking him. He had important tests and passages to take. Hermione was one of his best friends and he didn't want to jeopardize their friendship with a relationship of other kinds. They all board the Express think about the year to come. They didn't speak much on the ride there, which was strange. There was something in the air, something different about the year approaching. They all had a sense
that there was something wrong, but they didn't know what. There had run into problems in every year. Harry had had a brush with death all the time he was at Hogwarts. Harry loved school and learning about wizardry, but he loved Hermione more. He wanted to love her and be loved by her. Once again he glanced over at the beautiful creature that was Hermione Granger. He thought about how he was going to tell her, but he thought he better wait for a while. Harry looked outside the train windows into the wilderness, thinking about Hermione. He broke away from the blaze of color and looked around the compartment. Ron looked pensive about something, but Harry didn't know what. It almost looked like Ron was planning something, not something bad, but it was defiantly something. Their eyes met and Ron quickly looked away. Harry thought this was very strange because Ron and he were usually so open with each other about everything. They hardly ever had friendship problems, so Harry wondered what he was keeping from him. They approached Hogsmeade Station and everyone got up from their seats. Harry stood up, gathered his things, and looked out the window to see Hagrid greeting the first years. Harry smiled. That smile wouldn't last for long. Harry Potter and all of the Hogwarts students were about to embark on their most terrifying year at Hogwarts yet.
