Hello People, glad your going to read my quick, little fic. I know that Pearl is actually older than Pippin in Tolkien's world, but I made her a few years younger than him in this fic. Also I know that hobbits probably didn't go to high school, or maybe even have tuxes, but this is my fic, okay. Well you all know I don't own the Lord of the Rings, Tolkien, the master of all did, I am so glad he did though! ^_^ Anyway lets stop blabbing on and on about other things, and on with the story.

Pearl's Pippin

I will never forget the time my brother Pippin took me to his prom. I know how it sounds, but it is not like that. He really made my whole high school career. You see when I was in the ninth grade, my big brother Pippin, would was in his senior year, seemed to me to be the epitome of popularity. He was good at sports and dated a lot. Our hole was always filled with Pippin's cool friends, like Fatty Bolger, Frodo Baggins, Merry Brandybuck, Samwise Gamgee, and others, although Merry and Frodo were cousins of mine. They were guys I only dreamed would someday think of me more than "Pippin's dumb, little kid sister." Pippin asked Diamond, the most popular lass in the Shire High, to go to senior prom with him. She accepted. Pippin rented a tux, bought flowers, and, along with the rest of his popular crowd, hired a coach of horses and made reservations at the top restaurant in the Shire. My brother went all out! Then disaster struck! On the afternoon of the prom, Diamond came down with a terrible strain of flu. Pippin was without a date, and it was to later to ask another lass. There were a number of different ways Pippin could have reacted, including get angry, feeling sorry for himself, blaming Diamond, even choosing to believe that Diamond really wasn't sick and just didn't want to go with him. But Pippin chose not only to be proactive, but to give someone else the night of her life. He asked me - me! His little sister! - to go with him to his senior prom. Can you imagine my ecstasy? Mother and I flew about the house getting me ready. But when the coach pulled up with a few of his friends, I almost chickened out! What would they think? But Pippin just grinned, gave me his arm, and proudly escorted me out to the coach like I was the queen of the ball. He didn't warn me not to act like a kid, he didn't apologize to the others, he ignored the fact that I was dressed in a simple, green dress while all the other girls were in elegant formals. I was bedazzled at the dance. Of course, I spilled punch on my dress. I'm sure Pippin bribed every one of his friends to dance at least one dance with me, because I never sat out once. Some of them, like Samwise and Merry, even pretended to fight over who got to dance with me. I had the greatest time! And so did Pippin. While the guys were dancing with me, he was dancing with their dates! The truth is, everyone was wonderful to me the whole night, and I think part of the reason was because Pippin chose to be proud of me. It was the dream night of my life, and I think every girl in school fell in love with my brother, who was cool enough, kind enough, and self-confident enough to take his little sister to his senior prom!
