Forever Fleeing

Turning, turning,

Ever turning,

Trapped in tangled spiders web.

Keep on running,

Keep on fleeing,

Every time I turn with dread.

Run forever,

Keep on going,

Run from lies and painful truths.

Fleeing always,

Hide in darkness,

Terror run on cloven hooves.

Freak and mutant,

Dark demon spawn,

Words thrown harder, breaking bones.

Leathern wings,

And curling horns,

Charcoal skin and eyes like stone.

Rain washed pebbles,

Closed with pain,

Tortured oft in sciences name.

Found by one,

Of uncertain fame,

Adamantium claws, cause of pain.

Oddly gentle,

He calmed the child,

Soothed the pain and fear run wild.

Trust he taught,

Over the years,

Battled pain and hate and fears.

The boy grew up,

The savior remained,

Forever unaging, forever unchanged.

Learned to control,

The power within,

Refused to lose, fought to win.

Same old story,

Time after time,

The savior always must watch them die.

Still he always,

Takes them in,

Takes some pleasure in raising them.

The unsung hero,

The unaging beast,

Leave him now, a measure of peace.

Close the door,

Come far away,

Maybe return, another day.
