Monster Ball

In memory of Aeris. I'm not a serious Aeris fan but I felt terrible after
she died. So, this poem is sort of for her. Please review, it'll make my
day. Aeris belongs to Final Fantasy VII which in turn belongs to Squaresoft
although the poem is mine so please ask me if ya wanna use it or anything.
Enjoy.
Life is a masquerade, a fancy dress ball
And there stands a woman in the centre
With a smile on her face, she joins in the thrall
And I am doomed, as I am bound to her
She is cheerful, happy, optimistic and strong
A source of courage and strength to her friends
I'm filled with weakness, whatever I do feels wrong
And despite efforts I can't make amends
She smiles, she's perky, she's mature for her years
She's a friend that all wish to keep
Whilst I stand alone, paralysed by my fears
And collapse, crying tears, in a heap
But this woman, she's fake, she no more than a mask
And hiding behind it is me
And to reveal myself is my greatest task
Leaving my soul bare for all people to see
But the mask is stuck fast and it won't come undone
So I'll leave it on, just for now
But I realise that from my fears I still run
I need to come out.but how?
Yet I realise that it is not only me
Who is hiding from everyone's eyes
The problem with this that even I can see
Is that everyone sees nought but lies
I long for the day in which all masks will fall
Leaving people who are true to themselves
But for now we are stuck in this masquerade ball
Banishing us to our own private hells
