the end

I refused to sit there and watch him. I refused to let my friends come near me. I stood outside the small hut and blocked out all the sound around me. When Sango touched my shoulder, I jumped.

"He's asking for you," she said softly.

"I don't care." I balled my hands into fists and glared at the straw door that separated us. "I won't watch him give into her."

"Kagome." Sango lightly touched my hand. "Go inside. Tell him you love him and then let him go. He deserves that much."

I wanted to argue, but my shoulders slumped in defeat. She was right. I went inside and nearly bumped into Miroku. He shook his head sadly. "I'm sorry."

I closed my eyes and fell to my knees. Tears fell down my cheeks. Not more than three feet away from me Inuyasha lay on the ground.

Dead.
