'Twas a fair day throughout the land. Birds were singing and there was a slight breeze that stifled the warming effects of the noonday sun. But there was a strange presence in the Rosebud woods, a part of the Forests of Flowers, and all the creatures could sense it, and there were many beast and foul in the woods. There were sparrows, red-breasted robins, mice, shrews, hedgehogs just to name a few. Suddenly on this perfect summer midday, there came another creature to this area, unknown to anybeast. It had no fur except on the top of what seemed to be its head. And legs that were stretched and bent like nobeast had seen before.
Suddenly it started to move. It's strange claws twitched and its head lifted. It made small moaning and grunting sounds as it pushed itself up.
There were many spectators at the rising of this peculiar creature. They were all whispering about what it could possibly be.
"Is it Evil?"
"Can it Talk?"
"Why does it have no fur?"
"Is it some sort of snake... mouse... beast?"
A robed mouse stepped forward, towards the creature, looking on in awe."I must inform the Abbot,"the mouse muttered to himself. And with that he was off.
A friendly hedgehog stepped forth and politely introduced himself, "H-hello," he stammered out of pure fear of this unknown creature, "My name is P-Pinny. What is yours may I ask?"
"I am Erik, " said the creature in a deep, rough voice, "How are you, Pinny?"
The hedgehog breathed a sigh of relief, "I am fine thank you. If you wouldn't mind, Erik, could you please tell us a little bit more about yourself and how you came to be?"
"That, my friend, would be a strange story to be told over a warm fire among many friends," Erik said with a warm smile upon his rugged face."Do you know of such a place?"
"Ai! That I do! You should head to Redwall. Sanctuary and place of healing. All travelers from far and wide journey to taste their food and enjoy the hospitality of Redwall mice. Just follow that path heading northwards,"he said pointing to a clearing in the woods."It will take you right to the main gate."
"Ah yes, I see the path. Thank you very much, Pinny. I shall see you at Redwall."
And with that, the strange, friendly creature marched out of the woods and down the path towards Redwall Abbey.
