Okay okay! Sheesh! You've been hanging around Jack too much...and my brother...bad Jake...

Jacob: ...

Selmak: (in that weird deep echoey voice) I am surprised it took this long for you to drive him away... Hey! Okay, now on with the ficcie!!!

Waiting

Inspector Beth Lestrade had never been a patient person. From the time she was two years old, she saw what she wanted and went for it without thought of the possible consequences. And even though that single minded determination was a double edged sword, both getting her into and out of trouble, it kept her mind occupied, kept her from worrying.

And this waiting had her worried. What if she hadn't made the right decision? What if it didn't work? What if it did? What if....

She scowled and turned to the large window that looked into her apartment. The sky was dull grey in color; it looked as if it were going to rain. The multitude of vehicles and buildings outlined against it only served to make it all the more drab, which, in turn, made Lestrade's already sour mood take a dive for the worse. Her lips turned down at the corners, and she tossed the data pad she had been working on to her desktop in disgust. Her hands clenched and unclenched as her frustration levels mounted.

She turned away from the window and threw herself on the couch; unfortunately, she was on eye level with the vid-phone, which just made things worse. She groaned and closed her eyes. What could possibly be taking so long? The chime of the vid-phone kept her from going into that useless train of thought and had her heart pounding. She quickly punched the on-button and had to keep herself from either cheering or snapping at the image of the elderly scientist, Sir Evan Hargreaves, that appeared.

"Sir Evan?" She queried, glad that the conflicting emotions she was feeling were not evident in her voice.

"Ah, yes Inspector," the man answered, "I was just calling to tell you that it won't be long now. He is still unconscious but the rejuvination process is comp..."

Sir Evan didn't get to complete his sentence before Lestrade had switched the vid phone off. She was out the door and in her cruiser within twenty seconds.

No, Lestrade had never been a patient person.

The End!

Jacob: Uh-huh...and just when did this converstation happpen?
