Prologue: Dumbledore's Plan

"Minerva, do you have any idea on how to get school unity?" asked Dumbledore. "No, I don't," replied McGonagall. "I do," said Dumbledore. "Would you care to hear it?" "Of course I would." "My friend wishes to live a muggle life, since he is a squib. He's a teacher, at a muggle school as well, and gave me this wonderful idea. An inter-house 'Secret Santa,'" replied Dumbledore. "What is a 'Secret Santa?'" asked McGonagall. "You pick a name, out of a hat or something of that matter, and get a gift of that person, secretly. Once that person has the gift you tell them," replied Dumbledore. "I like it," said McGonagall. "My dear Minerva, would you please go to the kitchens and fetch three or four house-elves to come here?" "Certainly." *** A few minutes later four bug-eyed house-elves were standing in front of Dumbledore's desk. All were draped, somewhat, in towels with the Hogwarts Crest. Two, Dumbledore noticed, were his favorite. Not that he didn't like the others, he just knew them the most. "I have an assignment for you. I hope it won't take too much time out of preparing the delicious food that we so gratefully eat," began Dumbledore, then stopped. He watched the house-elves beam with pride. Then began again. "Dobby, Winky, Blinky, and Kinky, please inform all the teachers of a meeting at 3:00 p.m., at Friday. Dobby, inform Professors Binns, Tonks, and Diers. Winky, inform Professors Flitwick, Snape, and Sprout. Blinky, inform Professors Hagrid, Frieze, and Filldrid. kinky inform Professors Klankhart, Weaver, and Knight. Thank you. That is all. *** On 3:00 p.m., Friday, all of the teachers were in Dumbledore's office. All were curious on what they were here for. "You may be wondering on why I called you hear," Dumbledore began. "We have yet to unify the school. I have an idea, but if you, too, have an idea, feel free to interrupt me at any point. "My idea is to have a 'Secret Santa.' "You pick a name, out of a hat or something of that matter, and get a gift of that person, secretly. Once that person has the gift you tell them. Any objections?" A murmur of agreement passed the room. "Since that is settled, good bye! I hope I didn't waste to much of your time."
